Hålløwæn

Tivoli Gardens has three distinct seasons: Summery, Spooky and Snowy

So this is Season #1
This is Season #2

There were people dressed as scarecrows walking around and we JUST missed them

There was a giant pumpkin competition
This was the biggest.
So I guess that makes it the pumpking. #ba dum tish

This is a really strange arcade game where you have to hi-5 the people.
The Halloween pantomime - which we could partially understand.

Found: One Nemo.

9am yesterday
9am today
I'm not sure how much news people back home get about Boston, but we've been bunkered down because of Winter Storm Nemo (I know. Least. Threatening. Storm. Name. Ever). Classes were cancelled on Thursday night (which apparently is a big deal, because BC never does that) to let everyone prepare.

The international students got an email pretty much saying "We know that you koala's don't really get snow, so please try not to die". It included all the usual disaster tips - have a first aid kit (which I don't), get a torch (which I didn't), buy extra batteries (...nope) and buy bottled water (CHECK!). One from four ain't bad, right?

But the coolest bit of information in the packet was this: lots of people die from heart attacks in blizzards when they overexert themselves shovelling walkways and generally doing physical stuff outside. Because I'm all about safety and I don't want to take any risks with my health, I have barely left my bed except to make a mug cake (recipe). And just to make sure that I really wasn't overexerting myself unnecessarily, I cut out all unnecessary movements. Like changing out of my pyjamas.

But today, the snow was just too tempting to leave untouched, so I took my life in my hands, put on all of my clothes and went for a short walk up and down my street, and these are my photos.

Not going to lie, I had kinda hoped that when I opened my door there would be a solid wall of snow instead of just like, 20cm.
Looking up my street.
And holyshitballs, there is actually a car there!
Another car!

Hi house!
Just so you know - our front step is about 1m above street level.
Another car.
I know this is excessive, but I don't think you appreciate that THERE IS SO MUCH SNOW THAT IT IS COVERING CARS

The very top bit of a fire hydrant!

Getting down my front steps was probably the most terrifying thing I've ever done.

So the perspective is a little off, but what you're seeing is THIGH HIGH SNOW!

The reservoir

I nearly got run down by snow plows.
Dogs love snow.

Success!!!!
Oops! Dropped it.

Where did it go?
